CS2 Economy System
Managing your team's economy is one of the highest-impact skills in CS2. Poor economy decisions lose rounds before they're played.
Round Types
Full Buy: Your team has enough money to buy rifles, armor, and utility. Standard threshold is $3,700β$4,200+ depending on role.
- AWPer: $4,750 for AWP + armor
- Rifler: $2,700 (AK) or $3,100 (M4A4) + $650 armor = $3,350β$3,750
- Support: Rifle + armor + grenades ~$4,200+
Eco Round: Your team has limited funds. Save everything or buy minimal items (armor only, pistols).
- Goal: Deny the opponent money while preserving your own
- Even Glocks/USPs with 5 players can kill unsuspecting enemies
Force Buy: Your team can't afford a full buy but buys anyway to create pressure.
- High-risk, high-reward
- Use when losing 5+ rounds in a row and need to break enemy momentum
- Common force buys: MP9/MP7 + armor, UMP-45 + armor, pistols + armor
Half Buy: Upgrade just one component while saving the rest.
- Example: Keep pistols but buy armor
- Or buy one player AWP while others eco
CT vs T Economy
T-side economy is inherently harder to manage. Ts lose pistol round more often and buy patterns are more expensive.
- T buys: AK-47 ($2,700) vs CT M4A4 ($3,100) β AK is cheaper
- Ts need to win rounds to fund full buys
CT-side economy is more forgiving.
- Drop weapons to poorer players after winning rounds
- Buy rifles at $3,100β$3,800 range with armor and grenades

Pistol Round Strategy
T Pistol Round:
- 5 Glocks: Cheap and aggressive, effective at close range
- 4 Glocks + 1 Tec-9: One player specializes in run-and-gun
- 2-3 P250s: More damage at medium range
CT Pistol Round:
- 5 USP-S: Standard, accurate at range
- Mix P2000 for tap accuracy vs USP for silenced shots
- P250 purchases for players who prefer aggressive play
Team Drop Rules
After a successful round, drop rifles to teammates who had to eco. The standard "drop order" ensures no player stays on a pistol when they don't need to.
